The Orangery at Krogerup Folk High School

At Krogerup Folk High School, this bespoke orangery provides a setting for encounters between people, ideas, and nature. Delivered by Drivadan, the orangery has been designed as a flexible space that can be used all year round — from teaching and workshops to communal dining, creative processes, and informal conversations.

The transparent structure creates a close connection between indoors and outdoors. Natural daylight, views of the surrounding trees, and the changing seasons become an active part of the experience, giving the space a distinctive sense of calm and presence. At the same time, the robust steel construction and large glass sections ensure a bright, open, and durable environment with a minimal visual impact on the landscape.

The orangery is arranged with flexible work and lounge zones, kitchen facilities, and natural ventilation, allowing it to be adapted to a wide range of activities. External solar shading and internal sails help maintain a comfortable indoor climate on warm days, while the building’s simple expression harmonises with the historic surroundings of the folk high school.

The project demonstrates how a modern orangery can become more than a greenhouse — it can serve as a vibrant communal space where learning, conversation, and community are given the best possible setting.
